Fyre Festival 2: Postponed Like We All Expected

Fyre Festival 2: Postponed

In what may be the least surprising twist of 2025, Fyre Festival 2—yes, that Fyre Festival—is officially postponed. Again. Because nothing says “trust us this time” quite like a luxury music festival with no confirmed location, no artists, and, oops… no permits.

The festival, originally hyped for May 30 to June 2 somewhere in Mexico (depending on the day and the tweet), has hit yet another snag. First it was Isla Mujeres, then Playa del Carmen, but local officials from both places collectively said: “We’ve never heard of it.” Ouch.

Organizer Billy McFarland, fresh out of prison and back in the chaos kitchen, had promised a redemption arc: bigger, better, fireproof Fyre. He claimed permits were secured for a beachfront event—but turns out, those permits were for a modest gathering at a beach club… not a seven-figure music blowout. So yeah, that whole festival thing? Not happening. Not yet, anyway.

Tickets for this mystery-meets-mirage event ranged from a spicy $1,400 to a mind-melting $1.1 million. And while there were no artists announced, no itinerary, and no clue where you’d even sleep, people actually bought in. Hope you like refunds—because organizers say everyone who purchased a ticket will be reimbursed and offered first dibs when the “new date” is announced. (Insert nervous laughter.)

So, what’s next for Fyre Festival 2? Who knows. Maybe it’ll rise from the ashes, maybe it’ll stay a meme. One thing’s for sure: in the realm of chaotic energy, Fyre Fest still reigns supreme.

Until then, we’ll be over here watching the docuseries… again.
